Patrick Cantlay continued his scorching-hot play with an opening-round 62 to tie the course record at Pebble Beach Golf Links and hold a two-shot lead following Round 1.

Cantlay's 10-under performance Thursday comes after he fired an 11-under 61 to finish his week at The American Express. He's now set or tied a course record in back-to-back PGA Tour rounds.

The 28-year-old was favored to win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am after Dustin Johnson withdrew from the event. He's the highest-ranked player in action at No. 11.

Chasing Cantlay is 19-year-old Akshay Bhatia and Henrik Norlander, who both shot 8-under.

On the heels of his fantastic week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Jordan Spieth posted 7-under 65 to sit three of the pace. Spieth won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM in 2017.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard stands after Day 1:
