Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry's plan to host an annual golf tournament at Harding Park is close to becoming a reality, according to the San Fransisco Chronicle's Ron Kroichick.

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission is expected to approve a proposal Thursday that would revise the city's contract with the PGA Tour, granting the two-time NBA MVP permission to host the Tour event.

Curry has been discussing the idea of holding a tournament in the Bay Area with tour officials for nearly two years. The event would apparently debut in September 2021 and the contract would run for at least five years.

However, as a result of the deal, Harding Park would no longer host the 2026 Presidents Cup.

The PGA Tour abandoned plans in January to hold a Curry-led event at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, California, in September, citing a short time frame.

An elite multi-sport athlete, Curry has made two starts on what is now known as the Korn Ferry Tour.
