Brendon Todd fired a 9-under 61 on Saturday at the Travelers Championship to carry a two-shot lead over Dustin Johnson into the final round.

Todd is in a position to collect his third win of the 2019-20 season thanks to his brilliance off the tee. The 34-year-old has hit 41 of 42 fairways through three rounds and sits third in strokes gained: off the tee for the week despite averaging less than 300 yards.

He won the Bermuda Championship and Mayakoba Golf Classic in back-to-back weeks during the fall.

Johnson fired a 61 of his own to put himself in the final pairing for Sunday. The round marks the lowest of his career and gives him the opportunity to win for the 13th consecutive season.

The 20-time PGA Tour winner entered the week ranked outside the top five in the world for the first time since 2016.

Here is the top of the leaderboard with 18 holes remaining:

Place Player To Par R3 Score
1 Brendon Todd -18 61
2 Dustin Johnson -16 61
3 Kevin Streelman -15 63
4 Mackenzie Hughes -14 68
T5 Bryson DeChambeau -13 65
T5 Kevin Na -13 65

Phil Mickelson, who held the outright lead after 36 holes, couldn't carry his strong play into Day 3. The 50-year-old carded a 1-over 71 to fall six shots behind first.

Canadian Mackenzie Hughes remains in contention. He led the tournament by shooting a 10-under 60 in Round 1.

Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, who entered Saturday four shots off the pace in a tie for third, carded rounds of 69 and 70, respectively. They both fell outside the top 15.

Tee times will return to regularly scheduled slots for the final round after Saturday's action was moved to the morning due to weather concerns. The final pairing of Johnson and Todd will tee off at 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday.
