The PGA Tour spoke to Cameron Smith about his comments regarding Patrick Reed's sand-sweeping controversy, Australian Golf Digest's Brian Wacker reports.

An official warned Smith that he'd face a fine if he were to make similar remarks in the future, Wacker adds.

Smith didn't mince words about his peer's behavior after Reed was caught improving his lie at the Hero World Challenge in December.

"I don't have any sympathy for anyone that cheats," Smith said, adding that Reed's excuse of blaming the camera angle was "a bullshit response."

Smith's comments made waves and added plenty of drama when the two squared off in the Presidents Cup shortly after the scandal.

Reed's American squad ultimately won the international contest, but Smith put together a 1-1-1 record at the event and earned his second Tour victory last week at the Sony Open.
