Report: Holiday, Booker likely on USA Olympics squad

Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday is expected to be named to Team USA's roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, barring unforeseen circumstances, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Joe Vardon.

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker is also reportedly in line to join Holiday on the Olympic squad.

USA Basketball has pursued Holiday for much of the NBA season. He's believed to have delivered his commitment to the men's national team in recent weeks, sources added.

The veteran guard helped the Americans claim gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. He was considered the team's second most important player behind Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.

Booker represented the U.S. alongside Holiday at the Tokyo Games, where he made his national team debut. The Suns guard started in five of six games and registered 9.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest while averaging 20.7 minutes.

The 27-year-old has been a fixture with USA Basketball since 2016, when he was named to the Select Team that practiced with and helped prepare the Olympic squad that year.

Players considered locks for the United States this summer include Durant, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, and newcomer Joel Embiid. They're all part of the 41-player pool the team can choose from, which was released by USA Basketball in January.

Holiday also helped the Milwaukee Bucks win a championship in 2021. A two-time All-Star and five-time All-Defensive team selection, the 33-year-old is averaging 13 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in his first season in Boston.
