The New York Rangers have signed free-agent forward Daniel Paille.

The deal is two-way in nature and carries a $575,000 cap hit at the NHL level, reports Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.

The 31-year-old spent the early part of the season with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, Chicago's minor-league affiliate. In 31 games, he recorded one goal and three assists.

Drafted 20th overall by Buffalo in 2002, Paille has appeared in 570 NHL games, with 85 goals and 172 points.

He spent the past six seasons with Boston, winning a Stanley Cup in 2011.
