Connor McDavid might not be ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured clavicle after all.
The rookie phenom will not be back in the Edmonton Oilers' lineup before the All-Star Game on Jan. 31, head coach Todd McLellan confirmed Saturday.

McDavid has missed 29 games since crashing awkwardly into the boards against the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 3. He resumed practicing with the team on New Year's Day.
"You want to play as soon as possible, but at the end of the day you've gotta play when it's safe," McDavid said. "To give myself a couple of extra days is gonna be important and probably help in the long run."
The 18-year-old recorded five goals and seven assists in 13 games before going down with the injury.
The Oilers are 12-14-3 in his absence.
