Tikhonov back in Arizona after waiver claim from Chicago
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Coyotes have claimed forward Viktor Tikhonov off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Coyotes also placed captain Shane Doan on the injured reserve list with a lower-body injury.
The 27-year-old Tikhonov was originally drafted by the Coyotes with the 28th overall pick in 2008. He had eight goals and eight assists in 61 games during the 2008-09 season but spent the next two in the AHL before leaving to play four seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.
The Coyotes still had Tikhonov's rights when his KHL contract expired, but he ended up signing with Chicago last summer and appeared in 11 games for the Blackhawks before being waived.
