Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Friday.
The 22-year-old was assessed a match penalty Thursday for an "illegal check to the head" of Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand.
A melee ensued shortly after when Marchand responded with a retaliatory punch, which the NHL is also reviewing, according to Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe.
Landeskog has five goals and seven assists in 16 games this season, and is known for his physical play, with 249 penalty minutes in 297 career NHL games.
