Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto native Max Domi got to play his first NHL game in his hometown with his Arizona Coyotes visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It didn't take long for the 20-year-old to make an impact, sending a rolling puck to the top corner on the power play just six and a half minutes into the first period, giving the Coyotes an early 1-0 lead.

A thrilling moment for the rookie, but a strange feeling for his father, Tie, who spent the majority of his 17-year career wearing the blue and white.

Eventually, the proud father couldn't help but smile.

The goal marked Domi's tenth point of the season, moving him past Edmonton Oilers phenom Connor McDavid for sole possession of the rookie scoring lead.

The Coyotes went on to win 4-3.
