Sam Bennett, Matthew Tkachuk, and Brady Tkachuk could form one of the NHL's most agitating lines in recent memory, but Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice worries about the trouble they might get themselves into.
"I don't want to give everybody what they want with the two Tkachuk brothers together with Sam Bennett. They'll be in jail before the puck drops," Maurice quipped Wednesday, according to The Hockey News' David Dwork.
Bennett and Matthew have been frequent linemates the past four seasons, and it was widely assumed that Brady would join them after the Panthers acquired him in an offseason trade from the Ottawa Senators. Brady and Matthew were effective linemates for Team USA at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off and the 2026 Olympics. Brady notably fought Bennett at the 4 Nations while the latter was representing Canada.
Since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, the two brothers and Bennett each rank in the top 20 in the league in penalty minutes. Matthew has been suspended four times in his career and Bennett has been suspended twice, while Brady hasn't been suspended.
Brady projects to begin the season on the top line with Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart, while Carter Verhaeghe's expected to slot in next to Bennett and Matthew, according to Daily Faceoff.
