The St. Louis Blues have placed Jaden Schwartz on injured reserve after the winger suffered a fractured left ankle in practice, general manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday.

Schwartz is scheduled to be re-evaluated in 12 weeks.

The forward recorded four assists and seven shots on goal through the first seven games of the season, and had proven to be a key piece for the Blues over the past two seasons, posting career highs in goals (28), assists (35), and total points (63) in 2014-15.

Based on the timeline provided by the Blues, Schwartz will be out until at least mid-January, and is expected to miss at least 40 games.

The Blues are already without center Paul Stastny and rookie Robby Fabbri, both of whom also suffered injuries early on in the regular season.
