The Carolina Hurricanes are sold on Eddie Lack.
Carolina announced Saturday that it's signed the young goaltender to a two-year, $5.5-million contract extension set to kick in for next season.
Lack's deal will see him earn $2.5 million in 2016-17 and $3 million the following year - a tidy raise from the $1.3 million he's scheduled to earn this season.
The fun-loving Lack was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks this summer for a third-round pick, and has already endeared himself to his club without having registered an official start.
"Eddie has been a great addition to our locker room," Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said in a statement. "We feel that we have a very solid tandem in net for this season and are excited that Eddie will remain a part of that picture beyond this year."
Lack is now the lone NHL-caliber goaltender signed through next year on the Hurricanes' roster. Cam Ward, who's expected to be the team's starter, will become an unrestricted free agent in July.
