Stephen Weiss is reportedly not interested in playing without a new contract.

The free-agent center, whose contract was bought out by the Detroit Red Wings during the offseason, declined a number of professional tryout offers prior to the start of training camps, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Weiss signed a five-year, $24.5-million contract with Detroit in 2013, and is owed $1,666,667 through to the end of 2020-21 as a result of the buyout.

The 32-year-old appeared in only 78 games for the Red Wings over the past two seasons, recording 11 goals and 18 assists. For his career, however, he has averaged 47 points for every 82 games played.
