The New Jersey Devils have made a long-term commitment to Adam Larsson.
The club has signed the defenseman to a six-year deal, it was announced Saturday.
In a clear signal that it's a new era in New Jersey under general manager Ray Shero, the details of the $25-million deal were disclosed upon the announcement.
Here's a look at the salary breakdown:
Year | Salary (Million) |
---|---|
1 | $2.5 |
2 | $3 |
3 | $4.5 |
4 | $4.85 |
5 | $5.05 |

The 22-year-old was selected fourth overall by the Devils in 2011, and recorded three goals and 21 assists in 64 games while averaging a career-high 20:58 of ice time this past season.
Based on this deal, Larsson figures to be a prominent piece of the team's future, and, if he continues to develop, could come at a bargain in the later years of the contract.
