Sabres, Varone avoid arbitration with 1-year deal worth reported $600K

The Buffalo Sabres have settled their lone arbitration case in advance of an official hearing.

Forward Phil Varone has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal worth a reported $600,000 at the NHL level, according to Tim Wharnsby of CBC Sports.

Varone has appeared in 37 games for the Sabres since being drafted in the fifth round back in 2009, with four goals and three assists to his credit. He did, however, record 15 goals and 44 points in 55 games this past season with the AHL's Rochester Americans.
