Sabres' Reinhart outshines Eichel in front of record-setting crowd at prospect scrimmage
Eichelmania is alive and well, but Sam Reinhart stole the show on Friday night.
Reinhart scored two goals and added an assist as his Team Blue defeated Jack Eichel's Team Gold 5-2 in the Buffalo Sabres annual prospect scrimmage.
Reinhart added another goal in the postgame shootout to cap off his memorable night.
"It took a while to hit the net. It's mid-July," Reinhart said. "But being able to put a few in, that was nice."
The game drew 17,115 fans at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, setting a Blue and Gold scrimmage attendance record.
Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma told reporters the game had the feel and excitement of a playoff contest.
Eichel agreed.
"Overall it was a great experience to play in that game in front of the fans," the No. 2-overall pick said.
