It's highly unlikely Viktor Stalberg will play for the Nashville Predators next season.

The forward was placed on waivers June 24, along with teammate Rich Clune, and could end up being traded, Predators general manager David Poile told Adam Vingan of The Tennessean.

"We're talking to a couple teams about possibly making a trade," Poile said. "Thought that if that was going to happen, it might have happened (Saturday). We might pursue that (Sunday) and there's also the possibility that we could buy him out."

Stalberg, 29, spent 25 games with the big club, earning 10 points in 25 games, while also recording 17 points in 20 games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.

He's set to earn $3.5 million over the next two seasons.
