The Colorado Avalanche have given former general manager Greg Sherman a new title as part of a front-office shuffle.
Sherman, who preceded Joe Sakic as the team's GM, was named senior vice president of business and team operations Friday. He was serving as the head of scouting and as an assistant to Sakic prior to the announcement.
Sherman became Colorado's GM in 2009 after seven years under the tutelage of Francois Giguere. He held the position until Sakic was promoted in 2014.
