Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang has officially taken a major step in his recovery.
Letang was cleared to resume workouts, the club confirmed Monday. The blue-liner will be monitored through the offseason.
He suffered a concussion after being hit by Arizona Coyotes forward Shane Doan in late March, and did not appear in another game.
TVA's Renaud Lavoie reported Sunday that Letang was cleared to begin training.
He scored 11 goals and added 43 assists in 69 regular season contests.
