The Slava Voynov domestic abuse story continued Friday with a hearing held to determine whether certain testimonies will be admissible in the trial.

Among the many story lines from the courtroom was a recording of Voynov's wife Marta Varlamova sobbing, while describing how her husband pushed her into a television, as confirmed by Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register.

Along with the recording came confirmation that the dispute between the couple began at an unofficial Los Angeles Kings Halloween party and that Varlamova - who was instructed to seek counseling on May. 4 - could not testify in the case until her counseling began.

Redondo Beach police officer Gregory Wiist, nurse Lily Juantuah and security guard Ronnie Liston - who Varlamova discussed the incident with while in hospital - will have their testimonies allowed during trial, while social worker Justin Weber's testimony was denied.

Voynov is facing one count of domestic violence after allegedly abusing his wife and shoving her into a flat-screen TV on Oct. 19.
