Red Wings' Datsyuk makes history with lightning-quick goal

One goal was simply not enough for Pavel Datsyuk.

The Detroit Red Wings forward opened the scoring in Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night with a nifty redirection, and he gave Detroit another lead with his second of the game eight seconds into the second period.

Datsyuk's quick encore was the fastest playoff goal to start a period in Red Wings history. 

Gordie Howe held the previous franchise record when he scored nine seconds into the first period against the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1954.

Datsyuk scored on Detroit's opening shot of both the first and second periods.
