Pearson (leg) signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract extension with the Kings on Thursday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Analysis:

The deal could turn out to be a steal for the Kings, who likely received a discount on Pearson since he's missed about half of this season with a fractured left fibula. The 22-year-old winger, who was a first-round draft pick by the Kings in 2012, tallied 12 goals, four assists, and a plus-14 rating in 42 games, and profiles as an ideal second-line player for the team long-term. It remains unlikely that he'll return before the end of the regular season, but he could be ready to play during the playoffs, should the Kings qualify.
