It's another lost season for the Edmonton Oilers.

Long considered a non-playoff team, the Oilers were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, extending their league-worst playoff drought to nine seasons.

The loss dropped Edmonton to 8-18-9 on the road and 13-13-1 against the Eastern Conference. The Oilers are four points ahead of the Buffalo Sabres in the basement of the NHL.
