Domestic violence trial for Kings' Voynov delayed until April
The date for Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov's domestic violence trial has been pushed back yet again.
The trial was scheduled to begin Monday following a delay due to a scheduling conflict, but Judge Eric Taylor granted a continuance requested by Voynov's attorneys Friday. Motions will be heard on April 1 and jury selection is scheduled for April 21 under the new timeline.
Taylor did not give a reason for his ruling.
One motion Taylor will hear on April 1 concerns statements made by Voynov's wife, Marta Varlamova, on the day of the incident. Varlamova has not cooperated with the investigation and prosecutors want to use her original statements if she refuses to testify. Voynov's attorneys are asking for those statements to be excluded.
