Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin will reportedly avoid league discipline for his dangerous hit from behind on Dallas Stars forward Jason Spezza, according to Richard Labbe of La Presse.
Emelin earned a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct Tuesday for driving Spezza face-first into the dasher with a push through the lower back.
Spezza returned to the game with a shield to protect a broken nose suffered on the play.
