Report: Coyotes' Vermette seeking $6M on next deal, likely to be traded
Antoine Vermette's desert days may soon be coming to an end.
The Arizona Coyotes center is believed to be available on the trade market as the club isn't willing (or able) to meet his request of $6 million per season on his next contract, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Friedman writes:
Other clubs believe the decision is already made to trade Antoine Vermette, as the team is unwilling to meet his asking price (in the $6-million range).
There’s a lot of interest, obviously, with several of the usual suspects already mentioned, such as Boston, Detroit and St. Louis.
Friedman cites Montreal and Chicago as other viable destinations.
The formidable two-way forward, who is set to become a free agent at season's end, is in the midst of another strong season for the struggling Coyotes, with 10 goals and 15 assists through 35 games.
