1962 - Glenn Hall sets a new goaltending standard
Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Glenn Hall plays in an NHL-record 502nd consecutive regular-season game, a 3-3 tie against the Boston Bruins.
Hall injures his back adjusting his pads and is forced to leave the game, ending one of the most impressive streaks in all of sports, especially considering it predates the advent of the goalie mask.
The record spans more than seven complete NHL seasons, beginning on opening night in 1955 when Hall is a member of the Detroit Red Wings.
1975 - Bruins and Rangers pull off blockbuster trade
One of the biggest trades in NHL history is consummated when the Boston Bruins trade captain Phil Esposito and defenseman Carol Vadnais to the New York Rangers for defensemen Brad Park and Joe Zanussi, along with center Jean Ratelle.
The trade involves three future Hall of Fame players.
Esposito was the reigning NHL scoring champion in each of the previous four seasons and five of the previous six campaigns. He is inducted into the Hall in 1984. Ratelle is enshrined in 1985 and Park is inducted in 1988.
