Ales Hemsky appeared galvanized after swapping sweaters last season, but the free agent forward's limited time as an Ottawa Senator wasn't enough to earn his new employer a hometown discount.
The Senators will reportedly attempt to trade his free agent rights after Hemsky rejected a three-year deal worth roughly $10 million, per TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Handsomely paid during his tenure in Edmonton, Hemsky grew increasingly sluggish in 11 seasons with the Oilers but displayed the in-born talent he possesses upon arrival in Ottawa.
He scored 17 points in 20 games after managing just 26 in 55 games in Edmonton.
