The Philadelphia Flyers have updated the status of goaltender Steve Mason and subsequently announced their starter for Thursday's playoff opener against the New York Rangers.

Emery posted a record of 9-12-2 with a .908 save percentage and two shutouts this season.Β 25-year-old rookie Cal Heeter will back him up.
There is no timetable for Mason's return from an upper-body injury.
