Entering the second period of Friday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a 1-0 deficit, it took the Toronto Maple Leafs all of four seconds to tie the game, courtesy of James van Riemsdyk.
The goal, van Riemsdyk's 29th, made possible by a clean faceoff win by Tyler Bozak, set a new team record for fastest goal to start a period. The previous Leafs record was held by Mats Sundin, who scored six seconds into overtime against the Blues years ago.

van Riemsdyk also tied an NHL record in the process:
JVR's goal tied the NHL record for fastest goal at start of period. Claude Provost did it in 1957 and Denis Savard did it in 1986.
