Wild F Mikko Koivu hurt after blocking shot on Saturday
Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu was hurt while blocking a Nicklas Backstrom shot during Minnesota's victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.
Koivu left the game for a short while before returning in the second period and promptly recording two power-play assists to key Minnesota's victory.
Despite Koivu's heroics on Saturday night, the Wild center may have sustained a serious foot injury. Wild head coach Mike Yeo didn't update Koivu's status post-game, but reportedly expressed concern over whether or not Koivu would be able to join the Wild on their upcoming two game road trip.
"I don't even need to go into what he means to our team," said the Wild bench boss.
