Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly sustained a lower-body injury Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens and won't return, the team announced.

Rielly logged 5:45 in the first period before heading down the tunnel.

The 32-year-old entered the contest with 12 points in 17 appearances on the season while averaging 19:31 per game.

Injuries have been an obstacle for the Maple Leafs early this season. John Tavares returned from a nine-game absence Saturday, and Kirill Marchenko remains sidelined with a knee issue.
