Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin won't play Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks as the team plans to keep him sidelined until a trade is finalized, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

Trade talks involving Larkin have recently escalated, but a move isn't imminent, per TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

Larkin requested a trade over the offseason, though nothing materialized at the time. He then reported to training camp after being stripped of his captaincy.

The 30-year-old's initial trade list featured four teams he'd accept a move to, but Larkin has since expanded it to 10 potential destinations. The Montreal Canadiens have reportedly been monitoring Larkin's availability despite not being on his list of approved teams.

He's signed through 2030-31 at an $8.7-million cap hit.

Larkin has recorded six points in 10 games this season. He's played his entire 12-year career with the Red Wings, who drafted him 15th overall in 2014.
