The Detroit Red Wings suspended forward Dylan Larkin without pay for sitting out games until he's traded, the team announced Thursday.

The Red Wings said in a statement that they're "disappointed by his decision, particularly given his obligations to the organization and his teammates."

Larkin will forfeit $41,237.11 in pay each day of his suspension.

His agent, Pat Brisson, announced earlier Thursday that the forward planned to sit out games until a trade materialized.

"Dylan's had enough of the situation," Brisson said in a statement obtained by TSN's Pierre LeBrun. "We believe he's been very professional and cooperative through this process."

Larkin requested a trade over the offseason, but nothing has come to fruition. He then reported to training camp after Detroit stripped him of the captaincy.

Several teams are in the mix to acquire Larkin, according to ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Red Wings fans booed him relentlessly in Detroit's home opener. During training camp, Larkin said he wasn't ready to discuss why he wanted out.

The 30-year-old's initial trade list featured three teams he'd accept a move to, but Larkin has since expanded it to 10 potential destinations. The Montreal Canadiens have reportedly been monitoring Larkin's availability despite not being on his list of approved teams.

He's signed through 2030-31 at an $8.7-million cap hit.

Larkin has recorded six points in 10 games this season. He's played his entire 12-year career with the Red Wings, who drafted him 15th overall in 2014.

The Red Wings take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
