The Ottawa Senators plan to air a video tribute for Brady Tkachuk when the former captain returns to Canadian Tire Centre on Oct. 21, team president Cyril Leeder said Thursday, according to Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch.
Tkachuk was dealt to the Florida Panthers this offseason after requesting a trade to the Atlantic Division rival to play with his brother, Matthew. Brady still has two more seasons left on his contract.
Rumors that Tkachuk would potentially force his way to Florida had long run rampant. After the Carolina Hurricanes swept the Senators in Round 1 of the 2026 playoffs, Tkachuk expressed frustration about the speculation.
"I feel like I've answered this hundreds of times," Tkachuk said in April when asked about his future in Ottawa. "None of those things ever came out of my mouth. Quite honestly, it's just getting frustrating. It's becoming a distraction. I have been fully committed to this team, to this city, and it's just become a distraction and frustrating to deal with."
Tkachuk reportedly requested a trade after the Senators were eliminated from the playoffs and was dealt to the Panthers less than two months later.
The 26-year-old spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Senators after the club drafted him fourth overall in 2018. He served as Ottawa's captain for the last five years.
Tkachuk ranks 10th in team history with 572 games and fifth with 463 points. He added seven points in 10 career playoff tilts with the Senators.
