Ducks sign Poehling to 4-year extension

The Anaheim Ducks signed forward Ryan Poehling to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

The new deal carries an average annual value of $3.75 million, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Poehling was set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The Ducks acquired him in an offseason trade that sent Trevor Zegras to the Philadelphia Flyers. Poehling has notched seven goals and 17 assists in 54 games this season while primarily serving as Anaheim's third-line center.

The 27-year-old ranks in the 89th percentile with a max skating speed of 22.13 mph this season.

Poehling was originally a first-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2017. He's averaged 12 goals and 29 points per 82 games in his seven-year career.
