The Edmonton Oilers placed forward Andrew Mangiapane and defenseman Alec Regula on waivers, the team announced Sunday.

The Oilers signed Mangiapane to a two-year contract with a $3.6-million average annual value this past offseason. He's managed seven goals and seven assists in 52 games this season while posting a team-worst minus-19 rating. He's also been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions.

Edmonton reportedly attempted to trade Mangiapane, but his contract includes a full no-trade clause for this season.

Mangiapane will still count for $2.45 million against Edmonton's cap if he clears waivers and is assigned to the AHL.

The 29-year-old has averaged 19 goals per 82 games across his nine-year career. He scored a career-high 35 goals with the Calgary Flames during the 2021-22 campaign.

Regula, who makes the league minimum $775K, has notched three assists in 29 games this season.
