The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexandre Texier to a two-year extension with an average annual value of $2.5 million, the team announced Wednesday.

Texier has proven to be an excellent fit in Montreal, recording seven goals and nine assists in 25 games since signing a one-year, $1-million contract with the Canadiens as a free agent in November.

The 26-year-old has spent most of his time with the Habs skating on the top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. The trio has outscored opponents 9-2 with a 65.2% expected goals share at five-on-five together, per Natural Stat Trick.

Texier previously played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues. He and the Blues mutually agreed to terminate his contract after he recorded one assist in eight games with St. Louis to begin the 2025-26 campaign.

Texier will represent France at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
