The Edmonton Oilers are looking to trade veteran forward Viktor Arvidsson in an effort to clear more cap space after moving Evander Kane on Wednesday, reports The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.

Arvidsson is under contract for 2025-26 at a $4-million cap hit. The 32-year-old has a full no-move clause, but he's willing to waive it as he and the Oilers agree a trade could be beneficial for both sides, LeBrun reports.

The Oilers signed Arvidsson to a two-year deal last July. He notched 27 points in 67 games and added seven playoff points as Edmonton lost in the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive season. Arvidsson was in and out of the postseason lineup as a healthy scratch.

Arvidsson's also suited up for the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings during his 11-year NHL career. He's topped 20 goals in a season five times, most recently in 2022-23.

The Oilers have approximately $16.2 million in cap space after trading Kane to the Vancouver Canucks, according to PuckPedia. Leon Draisaitl's cap hit rises to $14 million in 2025-26, and Edmonton needs to sign star restricted free agent Evan Bouchard while also filling other holes on the roster. The Western Conference champions are reportedly close to signing Trent Frederic to an eight-year extension, while Corey Perry, Connor Brown, and Jeff Skinner are among Edmonton's notable UFAs.

Connor McDavid is eligible to sign an extension as of July 1, but it wouldn't kick in until the 2026-27 season.
