Blackhawks' Brodie clears waivers for buyout
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman TJ Brodie cleared unconditional and will have the remainder of his contract bought out, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston.
The buyout means Brodie will count for $3.233 million on Chicago's books in 2025-26 and $258,333 in 2026-27, per PuckPedia.
Brodie signed a two-year deal with an average annual value of $3.75 million as a free agent last summer.
He suited up in 54 contests for the Blackhawks in 2024, totaling two goals and eight assists with a minus-18 rating. The 35-year-old consistently struggled in the defensive zone, accumulating just 15:38 minutes of ice time per contest.
The Calgary Flames selected Brodie in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs before joining the Blackhawks.
