The Carolina Hurricanes signed goaltender Frederik Andersen to a one-year contract extension worth $2.75 million, the team announced Saturday.

Andersen was slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's spent the past four seasons with the Hurricanes.

"Frederik has played extremely well for us and ranks in the top 10 all-time for winning percentage by an NHL goalie. We're excited that he will be staying with the team for next season," Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky said in a statement.

Andersen has been limited to 38 games the past two seasons because of injuries and health concerns. He posted an .899 save percentage in 2024-25 and has a lifetime .915 clip across 12 NHL seasons split between the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Hurricanes.

The 35-year-old was sensational in Carolina's first-round series against the New Jersey Devils, going 3-1 with only six goals allowed. Andersen was forced to miss Game 5 after getting hurt in the previous contest but is on track to return to action when the Hurricanes open their second-round clash with the Washington Capitals.

The Hurricanes have Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov signed between the pipes for a combined $4.75 million next season.
