Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid notched his 700th career assist during his team's 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
McDavid is the third-fastest player in NHL history to reach the milestone. Only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux required fewer games.
Player | Games to 700 assists |
---|---|
Wayne Gretzky | 478 |
Mario Lemieux | 579 |
Connor McDavid | 699 |
Paul Coffey | 768 |
Adam Oates | 781 |
McDavid accomplished the feat on Evan Bouchard's empty-net goal that sealed the win for the Oilers, who snapped their five-game losing streak.
The five-time Art Ross Trophy winner has already led the league in helpers four times in his 10-year career. He ranks fourth in the league this season with 53 assists in 54 games.
