Demko injured in win over Maple Leafs
Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko left Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs due to injury and was unable to return.
Demko talked to head coach Rick Tocchet at the bench midway through the first period before being replaced by Kevin Lankinen.
Tocchet said postgame that Demko's injury doesn't seem serious, and he didn't aggravate the knee injury that kept him sidelined for several months, according to Sportsnet's Brendan Batchelor.
Demko didn't play until December this season because of a knee ailment sustained in the first round of last spring's playoffs. Vancouver is also without captain Quinn Hughes due to injury.
Demko entered the clash with a 6-6-3 record along with a .889 save percentage on the campaign but had been rounding into form recently with a .952 save percentage over his four most recent starts.
Lankinen made 20 saves on 21 shots in relief as Vancouver secured a 2-1 victory.
The Canucks are off until Feb. 22 following Saturday's clash due to the 4 Nations Face-Off.
