Utah Hockey Club prospect Tij Iginla underwent season-ending hip surgery, the team announced Wednesday.
Iginla plays for the WHL's Kelowna Rockets. He tallied 32 points in 21 appearances before the injury.
The ailment explains Iginla's puzzling absence from Canada's world junior selection camp. He was one of five players picked in the top 10 of the 2024 draft to be omitted from the roster.
Utah selected Iginla sixth overall. He's the first pick in the franchise's history.
