Preds' O'Reilly: 'I was pathetic' in loss to Kings
Nashville Predators veteran Ryan O'Reilly was his own biggest critic following Monday's 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
"I know for myself, I'm extremely frustrated. That was probably, I think, one of the worst games I've ever played," O'Reilly said, according to The Hockey News' Emma Lingan. "From generating, making plays, losing battles."
He added: "I was pathetic, just throwing pucks away."
O'Reilly was minus-2 in 15:22 of ice time while registering one shot, one block, and a fight. His line, which features Gustav Nyquist and Filip Forsberg on the wing, controlled 52.38% of shot attempts and 42.67% of expected goals in the loss, according to Natural Stat Trick.
Nashville managed only 16 shots in the contest, including three in the third period. The loss was the Predators' third in four games, dropping them to 4-7-1 on the season.
O'Reilly thinks an upcoming road trip can help Nashville find its game.
"I think we need to get out of town and figure this out," he said. "It's very frustrating. On the road, I think it's a little easier. You can just show up and play."
The Predators were sparked by a road trip last season. The club planned to attend a concert at Sphere while in Las Vegas, but management axed the night out due to poor performance. Nashville then went 18 games without a regulation loss.
