Kyle Okposo says the New York Islanders are entering the 2013-14 NHL season with "higher expectations", according to Newsday.
The division didn't get any easier in the offseason [with Washington, Carolina and Columbus added], but that's good for us. We're going in with higher expectations. Last year, we wanted to make the playoffs. Our expectations are to make a run this year.
Okposo added that he's excited to start playing at Barclays Center in 2015.
I'm excited to see it [Barclays]. We have a loyal fan base on Long Island, and some are upset that we're leaving, but we're not going to Kansas City, we're going right down the road. Brooklyn's a hopping spot right now.
The 25-year old forward was drafted seventh overall by the Islanders in 2006. He scored four goals and 20 assists in 48 games for New York in 2013, after scoring a career high 24 goals in 2011-12.
Okposo also participated in Team USA's Olympic orientation camp.
