The Ottawa Senators have found their goalie.
The Sens signed netminder Joonas Korpisalo to a five-year contract with an average annual value of $4 million, the team announced.
Korpisalo is coming off his best season. In a career-high 39 appearances between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings, Korpisalo posted a .914 save percentage and a 2.87 goals-against average in 2022-23. He also saved 16.72 goals above expected, which ranked in the top 15 among NHL goaltenders, per Evolving-Hockey.
But the 29-year-old has been inconsistent throughout his career, posting four seasons with a save percentage above .900 and four campaigns with a mark below it. He's expected to share the crease with Anton Forsberg in Ottawa.
The Kings replaced Korpisalo by signing former Senators goalie Cam Talbot.
