Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler will have a hearing Monday after kneeing Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman during Sunday's contest, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced.

Edler received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play. Hyman left the game and did not return.

Edler, 34, was suspended three games for a hit to the head of San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl during the 2013-14 campaign. He served a two-game ban the season prior for charging then-Phoenix Coyotes netminder Mike Smith.

The Swedish blue-liner also received a two-game suspension at the 2013 world championships for kneeing Canadian forward Eric Staal.

Hyman is enjoying a breakout campaign for Toronto. The 28-year-old ranks second on the team in goals (15) and third in points (33).
