New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk took a skate to the face and immediately left the ice during Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Head coach Barry Trotz offered no update postgame, stating Boychuk was still being evaluated.

Boychuk was cut by a skate last season, too, which resulted in a 2-inch laceration under his cheekbone that did not require stitches, according to Newsday's Andrew Gross.

Islanders forwards Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck have both missed time this season after suffering skate cuts. The pair's lacerations occurred away from the face - on the leg and wrist, respectively.

The 36-year-old veteran is in his 11th NHL season and his sixth with the Islanders.
